He was a previous Master of the Niagara Masonic Lodge #375, a life member of the Clarence Center Volunteer Fire Co. and served on the Town of Clarence Planning Board for many years. In his spare time Harold was an avid hunter and fisherman, and very involved with horses. He was not only a lifetime member of the Western New York Quarter Horse Club, he was the club's largest influencer. The club promoted the American Quarter Horse. This led him to the development of his own AQHA shows within the Western New York Counties called the Spring Fling QH shows. He managed these shows for 46 years. He promoted the horse industry and encouraged everyone in the horse community. He was also an active polo player in his younger years, when he owned and operated Pine Lane Stables in Clarence Center. There weren't many horse people he wasn't connected to across the country. To honor Harold's life, the family will be present to receive family and friends on Thursday, August 19 from 3 -7 PM at the Clarence Center Fire Hall, with refreshments to immediately follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Clarence Church of Christ, 5375 Old Goodrich Road, Clarence, NY 14031.
