Obituary of Edward Carland
Edward J Carland, Esq.; age 95, of Clarence died Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at Buffalo Hospice Inc of Cheektowaga, NY. Mr. Carland was born January 14, 1923 in Buffalo, NY. He is the son of the late John and the late Edna (Kumpf) Carland. He married Lorraine N Nicolas; they were married for 65 years until her death August 23, 2016.
He served in the Army during World War II. Edward graduated from Canisius College and then attended and graduated from the University of Buffalo School of Law. He attained his PhD in Law from Harvard. He practiced with the firm Falk & Zimmer for the majority of his career in law.
He practiced Law until the age of 92 when he officially retired.
Edward was a devoted, loving and wise father and grandfather. He had a wonderful sense of humor and touched many lives. In his free time, he gave back to his community. He was a Boy Scout Leader with troop 61 in Amherst, NY for many years. Mr. Carland was a United States Figure Skating Association judge in the WNY area for many years and Past President of the Buffalo Rotary.
He is survived by four daughters: Barbara Carland Crawford (Eric), Deborah Carland, Theresa M. Peltier (Michael) and Lorraine J. Finn (Richard), and two sons: James B. Carland (Pamela) and Edward J Carland Jr. (Laura). Edward is also survived by sixteen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Besides his wife he was predeceased by his son Thomas E. Carland.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held 10:00 am on Monday, December 3 at Our Lady of Peace RC Church, 10950 Main St, Clarence, NY with Rev Thomas Doyle officiating. Private interment immediately following.
